Nicky Mackay

Physiotherapist

BSc Phys (First Class Honours, Oxford Brookes University), BSc Sport and Exercise Science

Nicky graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a First Class Bachelors of Science (Honors), Physiotherapy, 2019 and made the move from the UK to NZ with her husband in 2021.

Nicky’s work style is underpinned by her previous Sport and Exercise Science degree from Loughborough University and her passion lies in movement based rehabilitation and prehabilitation. She enjoys treating all musculoskeletal conditions to help people return to the activities that they love and has a keen interest in weight training. She loves getting patients out onto the gym floor and educating and challenging people to better their long term functional success. It is never too late to start strength training, your 80 year old self will thank you!

Outside of work you will find Nicky in her role as Professional Practice Fellow for the University of Otago supporting Physiotherapy students whilst in clinical practice. And in her spare time, playing premier women's rugby or traveling around the Southland/Otago regions with her husband and 2 dogs. She enjoys tramping, backcountry camping and the challenge of hunting. Perhaps Nicky was a Southlander in a previous life!
